THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The battle against wild beasts is one of the earliest chapters in the history of human survival. Addressing why this theme remains intensely relevant even in the 21st century, an upcoming movie is arriving to provide a cinematic answer. The promo song of ‘Lurk’, a film that delves into the profound conflict between humans and animals, is currently generating widespread discussion online. Meaning “to remain hidden or wait in ambush,” the intriguing title ‘Lurk’ is already raising profound philosophical questions at various international film festivals.
Presented by R. Harikumar under the banner of Kerala Talkies, the film features a story and direction by M.A. Nishad. Ahead of its grand theatrical release next month, the makers have launched a promotional song that carries a unique distinction—its visuals have been created entirely using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The English track, titled ‘Eyes on the Prey’, has been dynamically rendered by veteran singer Jassie Gift, with lyrics penned by the film’s screenwriter Jubin Jacob and music composed by Prakash Alex. The specialized AI-generated visuals for the song have been designed and curated by Vino Vikraman Pillai.
The other tracks in the movie have been written by noted lyricist Manu Manjith, with music direction handled by Prakash Alex and Mineesh Thampan, while Manorama Music serves as the official audio partner. Scheduled to hit theaters in July, ‘Lurk’ has already traveled across various international film circuits and clinched several prestigious awards. Director-turned-actor M.A. Nishad won the Best Actor award at the Ceylon and Karnataka international film festivals, while veteran actor T.G. Ravi was adjudged Best Supporting Actor at the Madhya Pradesh Vindhya Film Festival. On the technical front, Vipin Mannoor bagged an award for editing and Ganesh Marar for sound mixing. Additionally, actress Anumol’s portrayal of a character named Lakshmi has drawn high praise from festival critics.
The movie features an ensemble star cast including Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Prasanth Alexander, T.G. Ravi, Anumol, Manju Pillai, Saritha Cuckoo, Jaffer Iduki, Sudheer Karamana, Prasanth Murali, Biju Sopanam, Sohan Seenulal, Saji Soman, Vijay Menon, Kumar Sunil, Vinod Kedamangalam, Reju Shivadas, Biju Kasim, Firoz Abdullah, Sminu Sijo, Muthumani, Bindu Pradeep, Ramya Panicker, Neetha Manoj, and Sheeja Vakkapadi. Director M.A. Nishad also portrays a pivotal character in the film, which is being distributed by Maan Media.
