NEW DELHI: In a major cultural gesture, Israel is all set to install a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary founder of the Maratha Empire, in the Jewish nation. The decision aims to further strengthen and deepen the cultural and diplomatic ties between India and Israel. This historic move is intended to introduce the rich legacy, historical contributions, and bravery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the people of Israel.
The announcement was officially made by Yaniv Revach, Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai, on the auspicious occasion of Shivrajyabhishek Din (Coronation Day). Revach stated that Israel understands perfectly how important and influential a figure Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is to India. He added that this monument is more than just a regular project; it is a long-term initiative to connect the people of India and Israel through shared values of leadership and courage.
According to the plan, the large statue of the Maratha ruler will be crafted in India and then transported to Israel, where it will be erected in one of its major cities. The Consulate General has already sought guidance and partnership from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who immediately extended his blessings and full support to the historic initiative. Once realized, the project is expected to foster a deeper understanding of Indian history and heritage among the Israeli community.
