The Embassy of India in Kuwait has officially confirmed that the person killed in the recent Iranian drone and missile attack targeting Kuwait International Airport was an Indian national. However, the authorities have not yet released the name or the native state of the deceased individual. The casualty occurred during a heavy barrage of ballistic missiles and explosive drones launched by Iran at the airport, which left one dead and 63 others injured.
While reports regarding the casualty being an Indian citizen had been circulating earlier, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait put out an official confirmation on social media later. “Embassy of India in Kuwait expresses its deepest condolences at the tragic demise of an Indian national due to an attack on the airport in Kuwait today. The Embassy is in touch with the bereaved family and is closely coordinating with the Kuwaiti authorities to render all possible support and assistance to the bereaved family as well as those injured in the incident,” the embassy stated on X (formerly Twitter).
According to medical updates from the site, at least seven of the injured individuals required urgent emergency surgeries due to the impact of the strikes. Condemning the aggressive strike in the strongest terms, Kuwait has dropped hints of a strong retaliation against the attack. Along with the airport infrastructure, certain diplomatic mission premises in the country were also hit. Following the heavy airstrikes, commercial flight operations at the airport have been temporarily suspended.
