NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his four-day visit to Central Asia today, covering Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. During the tour, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks in Uzbekistan and participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Kyrgyzstan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to depart around 9:00 AM today for his visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. He will hold a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss cooperation across key sectors including trade, investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, and education. This marks PM Modi’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
PM Modi will participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit taking place on the 31st and 1st. He will present India’s stance on regional security, counter-terrorism initiatives, economic cooperation, and transport connectivity.
He will also hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders on the sidelines. A meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely, where India-Russia strategic ties, defense, and energy cooperation are expected to be discussed. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also attending the summit.
