Qatar Airways Expands Australian Network with Direct Flights to Western Sydney International Airport Starting December 2027.

DOHA: Qatar Airways has announced a major expansion of its Australian route network, introducing direct passenger services between Hamad International Airport and Western Sydney International Airport, effective December 15, 2027.

Western Sydney will serve as the airline’s seventh gateway in Australia, joining its established routes to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra.

The new connection will initially operate three times a week utilizing Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, configured with 42 Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats. Passengers traveling on this route will also benefit from complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi connectivity.

The expansion complements the broader strategic growth plans of the partnership between Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia, offering enhanced global connectivity and seamless travel options for passengers across the region.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al Khater emphasized that the new gateway reinforces the airline’s long-standing ties with Australia. He noted that the route will directly link Western Sydney to Doha, providing smooth onward connections through Hamad International Airport to over 170 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and beyond, thereby driving trade, tourism, and bilateral investment.
