THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The official release date for the upcoming Malayalam feature film ‘Ottamthullal’, helmed by well-known director G. Marthandan, has been formally announced. Promoted with an engaging and humorous tagline, “A Pure Rustic Comedy Drama,” the movie is all set to hit theaters across the state on July 24, 2026. The theatrical distribution is being handled by the prominent banner Good Fellows.
The makers locked the release date with a colorful, quirky promotional poster featuring a popular ensemble cast standing cheerfully behind the head of a cat, bearing a welcoming tagline that translates to “Come and Laugh.”
Presented by Aadya Prasad, the family entertainer is produced by Mohan Nellikkattu under the operational banner of G.K.S. Productions. Industry insiders Hiran Mahajan and director G. Marthandan themselves are on board as the executive producers. The narrative maps the humorous chain of events that spark when a domestic household dispute within a rural village rapidly escalates into a full-blown crisis involving the entire village community, presented through continuous laugh-out-loud moments.
The project boasts an expansive cast of seasoned performers including veteran actors Vijayaraghavan, Harisree Ashokan, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Tini Tom, Manoj K.U., Binu Shivaram, Jeo Baby, Sidhartha Siva, Kutty Akhil, Jerome, Bipin Chandran, Priyanandanan, Vaikom Bhasi, Adinad Sasi, Roy Thomas, Master Sreepath Yan, Aniyappan, Sreeraj, Pauly Valsan, Sethulakshmi, Jasnya K. Versatile actor-writer Bibin George also joins the squad to portray a highly crucial character in the plot.
The screenplay for the rustic comedy has been penned by Binu Shivaram. Given that music plays a highly pivotal role in the narrative progression, the lyrics have been penned by top-tier lyricists B.K. Harinarayanan, Vinayak Sasikumar, and Dhanya Suresh Menon. The background score and soundtracks are composed by youth-favorite music director Rahul Raj.
On the technical front, Pradeep Nair has driven the cinematography while seasoned technician Johnkutty handled the editing. The creative crew features Sujith Raghav as the art director, Amal C. Chandran steering the makeup department, and Siji Thomas Nobel designing the costumes.
