MSF Activist Arrested for Defaming and Threatening Panakkad Sadiq Ali Thangal.

The Malappuram police have arrested Muhammad Roshan, an MSF activist from Perinthalmanna, for allegedly posting defamatory content and threatening Muslim League State President Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal.

Roshan was taken into custody from Angadippuram railway station after being on the run in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bengaluru. According to the police, the accused had attempted to extort ₹15 crore from a relative of Sadiq Ali Thangal by threatening to release morphed or fake videos of the leader.

When the demand for money was rejected on January 31, Roshan reportedly began posting abusive content on Facebook. Roshan, who is also an accused under the KAAPA Act, was lured back to Kerala by the police and arrested.

The investigation, which began with a cyber-cell probe, gained momentum after Sadiq Ali Thangal personally filed a police complaint against the blackmail and defamation attempt. (Kerala News)
