SINGAPORE: Two Singapore-registered container ships, GFS PRIDE and GFS GISELLE, were struck by unknown projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore reported that the GFS PRIDE caught fire and subsequently sank, though all 21 crew members evacuated safely without injury. The GFS GISELLE sustained hull damage but managed to reach a safe anchorage under its own propulsion, with all 22 crew members remaining safe and uninjured. No Singaporean nationals were aboard either vessel. The authority strongly condemned the incidents, expressing deep concern over the ongoing attacks on commercial shipping in the region.
Meanwhile, Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Ali Azmaei announced that the IRGC Navy and the Iranian Army’s Navy maintain round-the-clock control over the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. The IRGC Navy commander stated that transiting vessels must secure proper authorization under international regulations and warned of a decisive response against any ships violating these rules due to U.S. provocation.
